The Hebrew writer is concerned about the lack of growth of those he writes to and so reminds us of the fundamentals of Christianity which are vital for our growth and he encourages to grow to maturity so that we can become teachers (which doesn’t necessarily equate to evangelism).

Dead works are those actions we take of our own initiative in order to appease the wrath of God (or even gods). These are failures to understand God and salvation. It is only in the free gift of grace through Jesus Christ that we can be saved.

Jehovah counted Abraham’s faith as righteousness, and tells us that it is an example for all who believe. In this lesson, we’ll learn about why faith counts as righteousness, and why faith pleases our Father.
